Wheelbarrow Farm

Wheelbarrow Farm is located an hour northeast of Toronto on 10 acres of rolling field and forest. We grow mixed organic vegetables and raise heritage breeds of pigs on pasture. Our mission is to build an environmentally sustainable farm that participates in a more just and equitable local food economy. In 2010, we are partnering with East Scarborough Community Festival Market through their Good Food Market program as well as supplying CSAs (Community Shared Agriculture), our on-farm stand, restaurants and a grocery store (Karma Coop).

We utilize ecological growing practices including mulch, cover crops, hand tools, and compost. No artificial fertilizers. No pesticides or herbicides.

Throughout the year we host workshops and provide apprenticeships for those wanting to learn about organic agriculture.

Our pigs are raised on rotating pastures, which affords them a more natural lifestyle. They are able to roam around, dig, roll in mud, and whatever else it is they like doing.
